1. Precision measuring to find width for your vinyl vertical blinds:
Measure the opening across the top, where the head rail is to be installed, from inside of jamb on left to inside of jamb on right. Round the measurement down to the nearest 1/8".
2. Measuring efficiency to find height for your vinyl vertical blinds:
Measure from the inside top of the opening on the left, at the center, and on the right to the sill; to the closest 1/8" and note the smallest dimension.
3. Do not make any allowances adjustments will automatically be made so the head rail will fit the opening properly and the vanes will clear the sill by1/4" to 1/2".
Window Measurements Instructions for: Outside Mount Vinyl Vertical Blinds
1. Precision measuring to find width: Measure the width of the area to be covered at the place where the head rail will be installed. Mini vertical blinds should overlap opening at least 4" on each side to ensure privacy.
2. Measuring efficiency to find height: Measure the height of the area to be covered. Vertical mini blinds should extend at least 3" above and 3" below opening or window molding.
3. For installations to the floor, deduct 1/2" from the shortest height for proper clearance.
4. Specifying outside mount measurement means the factory makes allowances for head rail deductions only.
NOTES:
1. Vinyl vertical blinds installed on windows near wall or baseboard heaters must clear the heaters by 12" above and 6" to the side.
2. Make sure there are no obstructions on either side of the window that may prevent you from ordering wider vertical mini blinds.
3. Measure the area to the left and right of each window from the frame to the nearest obstruction (e.g. corner, fireplace, corner window, bookcases).
Measurements Instructions for: Patio Doors
1. Precision measuring to find width: Measure the width of the area to be covered at the place where the head rail will be installed. Vinyl patio door vertical mini blinds should overlap opening at least 4" on each side to ensure privacy.
2. Measuring efficiency to find height: Measure the height of the area to be covered at the left, center and right. Vinyl vertical blinds for vinyl patio doors should extend at least 3" above opening or window moulding.
3. To ensure easy access through the door and allow adequate overlap, consider the stack width.
4. For installations to the floor, deduct 1/2" from the shortest height for proper clearance.
5. Specifying outside mount measurement means the factory makes allowances for head rail deductions only.
